TO THE MOON AND BACK

TO THE MOON AND BACK, I love you!

This picture started when I wanted to create a bird with bright colors and flowing lines.  The lines indicate the flying motion of the bird as it ascends in the sky.  I created the bird, then played around searching for the right background.  I liked the moon and circles for the context of ascension.  Then I realized that the title of the picture should be TO THE MOON AND BACK.  What a fun concept.

The colors are rich and harmonious. I made the sky a deep, deep blue, one of my favorite colors.  Purple and medium blue light circles appeared as I played with shape and color.  Then green trees were added to indicate elevation from solid ground, ascension to heaven via feelings of love.

Created April,2022.  Digital, archival prints available from Saatchi.  Similar acrylic painting may be commissioned, message me. lunazure101@gmail.com

This is an inspiring picture that will spark a bit of delight when you hang it on a wall.  Or it would make a great gift for a loved one.

Amethyst Dance

  Amethyst Dance

Archival ink jet print,  9/21

Joyful, exhilarated, happy, energetic, beautiful,  Jumping for joy.  Almost flying.  This is how I want to feel.  When I create these  uplifting images I feel happy.

I really like how the colors came together here.  The saturated blue, purple and green are brilliant without being garish.  The rich colors are jewel like,  like an amethyst. I have been working with this color combo for a while, and they really created rich harmony here.

Oh! These terrible times.  Damn!  Pandemic, war, hurricane, flooding.  Government, politics, shut the damn TV off.  Just let me focus on making things better in my little corner of the world.  I try to think positive.  Every cloud has a silver lining.  I am Queen of Denial.

We got a bit of damage from that bitch Ida. Here in Washington Parish, maybe about a hundred miles from the coast.   We have been focusing on cleaning up and repairing damage.  We were out of power for only two days.  Just long enough to make me grateful for clean water coming out of the tap.  Just long enough to appreciate electricity.  A tornado came through and downed some large trees that blocked the trail down to the creek.  A husky neighbor has done a lot of chain sawing, the trail is almost clear.  No damage to the house.  Thank Goddess.

This picture was created in photoshop.  I have been doing photoshop since the late 90's. You can order prints on canvas or paper ($60.00), from Saatchi Art Online.

I often use photoshop pictures as a guide to create paintings.  I would love for you to commission a painting of this picture.  Or any other pxs you see on this blog.  Just G-mail me and tell me what you want.  I could probably make the picture in a month or six weeks, depending on the size that you want.

Thank Goddess for the activity of creating art.  Getting into the art creativity zone helps my mind to feel that I am making the world more beautiful.  The art zone is were I want to be.  When you look at this picture, I hope that you feel a bit happier.

I Still Have All My Marbles,2

Yes, I still have most of my marbles, contrary to what some people think.  Sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I dont.

Temporal Bone Skullpture

Temporal Bone

Acrylic skullpture,

The temporal bone is one of the bones that suture together to make the upside down bowl that contains our brains.   We are very proud of the, grey wrinkled jelly substance protected by the firm bowl.  We think that it makes us rational, smart.  The rational area of the brain is the frontal lobe, but it is greatly effected and affected by  the limbic system.  That primitive area is responsible for our emotions, emotions often overrule rationality.  The limbic system is in the center of the brain and is the center of our life.  Strong emotions veto rationality.  The limbic system is our built in trickster character.  The Cheshire Cat is curled up cozy in the middle of a muddle of miles of jelly wiring.

Comment from KNOW BUDDY:  Janet, what the duck are you doing?  Making vast generalizations about neuroanatomy. You have only rudimentary knowledge of these matters.  You are making it up as you go along.  Please, keep your ignorance to yourself.

This skullpture started as an anatomical model for anatomy study.  The model was cast from an actual cadaver.  There are three areas of design, created with acrylic paint.  The face is black with interference colors and silver for highlights.  The right side of the head is thick translucent painted roses on a black ground.  Contrasting with the black ground, the left side of the head is patterned with metallic gold and a beigey  gold flat paint.  The base of the support is an antique rescued wood block.

Influences and inspiration are too numerous to list.  "Day of the Dead", sugar skulls and pOp art, are at the top of the list.

The name "Temporal Bone", references not only part of the skull, but also, makes a hint about time.  Skulls remind us that time is passing, make the most of every day, no matter what the Cheshire Cat throws at you.

Dear KNOW BUDDY, Please keep your ignorance to yourself.
