ELISE (220707)

close up

 ELISE (#220707)

I am a woman with spiritual leanings.  I create beautiful women with layers of meaning.  The figures are not only beautiful in body, but I also hope to convey a depth of spirit.  I want to show my idealistic dreams of feminine existence, of being an excellent female earthling.

The background pattern, with a network of energetic lines forming circles, relates to the interconnectedness of everything in the universe.  The figure is impressionistic style, the head dress is rather art deco, and the egrets are realistic.  I like a mixture of styles.

This image was created in photoshop, a program that I have been using since the late 90's.  The art is available as a fine art print on Saatchi Art.  If you would like to commission a giclee, or an NFT, or an acrylic painting then message me.  lunazure101@gmail.com

The colors are rich and harmonious.  It will make a dramatic accent piece in your home.  I think that it will give you inspiration and pleasure for many years.

Diana, Greek Goddess, Jeweled

digital, archival prints, 24.1M, 3/18/22
file #220316Diana

When I was in the Louvre, I was gobsmacked to see this statue. Diana has always fascinated me. She brings home the bacon, I mean venison.  I found a picture of her on the web and harvested it for digital art.  I worked it up over a period of months, leaving her and coming back again.  As is my habit, I digitally brushed over the entire profile.  Usually, I will change the arrangements of the reference photo.  Sometimes I cut off limbs and rearrange them. This profile is so beautiful that I did not even change any proportions.

In another file, I had a desire to create some jewelry and worked, played, with beautiful stones.  I put the two files together and created a simple frame version and a jeweled framed version.

I have been creating in photoshop since the late 90's, so have many files.  Recently I developed a system of organization that is working well.  The file names are six digit dates, with the year listed first, followed by a short description.  This info might be helpful to help you manage files.

DRAGONFLY WOMAN

DRAGONFLY WOMAN, PAINTING

acrylic on panel, 24x16", 2019

DRAGONFLY WOMAN, DIGITAL

digital, 2019

She is in a dreamy trance. She is tranquil and peaceful. Is she thinking of her lover? Is she dreaming of a garden that she wants to create with rampant wisteria and dragonflies dancing in the air? Is she meditating and lifting her consciousness? What do you think? Your guess is as good as mine.

Here are two versions of the picture, a digital creation and an acrylic painting.

Invite her into your home, where she will remind you to create dreams.

Go to my Saatchi site to purchase, prints start at $60.00

TRIPLE SKULL

    TRIPLE SKULL
digital, 2019

TRIPLE SKULL is an unusual creation of three skulls merged together.  I was inspired by the concept, just thinking that I would create something unusual.  I enjoyed combining the skulls in a cohesive image.

This picture may relate to many historical concepts of the triple attributes of gods and goddesses throughout the ages.  There are many deities that have three faces, indicating the different aspects of the deities.  The Christian God has three aspects, God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.  Shiva, a Hindu God has three faces. Many Goddesses are attributed with three faces indicating the characteristics of the three ages of women; maiden, mother and crone. Three faced Goddesses were worshiped in Anatolia, ancient Greece and ancient Rome.

The deities are depicted with three faces, but, I haven't seen any other three faced skull pictures.  The concept is intriguing, an inspiring conundrum.

Walk Tall, Two

 Walk Tall, Two
archival print, collage on panel, digital, 21-9-29

Another image of Walk Tall, with different colors and composition.

When I make art I am in the zone.  Color fascinates me.  Different combinations of colors contribute to the mood of the piece.  I favor sinuous lines and also use geometrix squares and zig zags. Harlequin patterns. Mandalas.

Lately, I have done a few portraits of imaginary women.  A variety of styles appear.  I start with a rough in of the features.  Sometimes, that is all I do, the face is cartoonish.  Other times, the face evolves to abstract geometrix.  I think that the most frequent style that i use for faces is painterly realistic.  I keep working until I get an expression that I like.

While I make decisions and create lines, shapes and color, I am in the zone.  Totally involved in a process that I enjoy.  I follow my muse, she is always showing me something new.  Making art, for over 50 years, has evolved my spirit.

Art is the way to communicate visually.  You are invited to explore this path with me.

The color glows, intense and harmonious.  The woman is walking through a flower mandala. There is a spiritual aura to her, perhaps she is traversing a portal to another state of consciousness.

Collage giclée of digital elements on panel.  Also available as an archival print.  Hanging on your wall, it will add a touch of joy to your room.  E mail me for collage,  go to Saatchi to order an archival print.

Amethyst Dance

  Amethyst Dance

Archival ink jet print,  9/21

Joyful, exhilarated, happy, energetic, beautiful,  Jumping for joy.  Almost flying.  This is how I want to feel.  When I create these  uplifting images I feel happy.

I really like how the colors came together here.  The saturated blue, purple and green are brilliant without being garish.  The rich colors are jewel like,  like an amethyst. I have been working with this color combo for a while, and they really created rich harmony here.

Oh! These terrible times.  Damn!  Pandemic, war, hurricane, flooding.  Government, politics, shut the damn TV off.  Just let me focus on making things better in my little corner of the world.  I try to think positive.  Every cloud has a silver lining.  I am Queen of Denial.

We got a bit of damage from that bitch Ida. Here in Washington Parish, maybe about a hundred miles from the coast.   We have been focusing on cleaning up and repairing damage.  We were out of power for only two days.  Just long enough to make me grateful for clean water coming out of the tap.  Just long enough to appreciate electricity.  A tornado came through and downed some large trees that blocked the trail down to the creek.  A husky neighbor has done a lot of chain sawing, the trail is almost clear.  No damage to the house.  Thank Goddess.

This picture was created in photoshop.  I have been doing photoshop since the late 90's. You can order prints on canvas or paper ($60.00), from Saatchi Art Online.

I often use photoshop pictures as a guide to create paintings.  I would love for you to commission a painting of this picture.  Or any other pxs you see on this blog.  Just G-mail me and tell me what you want.  I could probably make the picture in a month or six weeks, depending on the size that you want.

Thank Goddess for the activity of creating art.  Getting into the art creativity zone helps my mind to feel that I am making the world more beautiful.  The art zone is were I want to be.  When you look at this picture, I hope that you feel a bit happier.

Spring with Cheshire Cat

 Spring with Cheshire Cat

close up

archival inkjet print, 5/6/21

This lovely woman named Spring, is bedecked with beautiful flowers.  She is swaying gracefully in a vintage forest.  Her hand gestures towards the cat.  Everything is beautiful, except for the Cheshire Cat.  That Cat!  The image of the trickster signifies all the dirty tricks that life bestows.  Is he evil?  Maybe, maybe not.  He is the one throwing glitches at earthlings everyday.  I, you, can blame the trickster.  When your bad thumb pushes the wrong button on the clicker, blame the Cheshire Cat.  When I get confused and cook the recipe wrong,  the Cheshire Cat made me do it.  When one is called into the managers office for an anal evaluation, and things do not go well, that is definitely the Cheshire Cat playing annoying tricks.

I found the inspiration for this image on FaceBook. Someone, I wish that I could remember who, posted a series of vintage photos from about a hundred years ago.  I worked the image up in photoshop.  Lots of fun adding color and making flowers.  The original image had a rabbit, which I replaced with the Trickster Cat, adding a dash of irony, to spice things up.

Resting on Couch

Resting on Couch

limited edition of 50, signed, archival inkjet print, 1/2021

Well, here is a picture of a woman relaxing comfortably.  A bit of a change in subject matter, because usually my women figures are very active.  They dance, they fly, they do yoga.  I guess it is time to take a rest after all that exercise.  She looks peaceful and contented.

The colors are rich and mellow.  I think that they are yummy, like a chocolate covered cherry.  The woman is depicted with minimal graceful lines.

I create digital works similar to the way that I create with paint and canvas.  Using digital brushes I create lines and texture that show, "the mark of the maker".  The composition of the painting creates a large "X", with the blue throw balancing the diagonal line of the woman and the window.

You may order a print by clicking on my email address in the column to the right and leaving me a message stating the print that you want.  Prints, 8.5x11", are $60.00. An acrylic on canvas original painting may be commissioned, write to me about the size that you want and I will email you back about the price. Your commissioned painting will be very similar, but not exactly like this digital image.

Happy New Year!!  Surely 2021 will be better than last year.  Stay healthy.

Wisteria in Full Bloom

Photograph and Photoshop

I am so blessed to live in this  Louisiana jungle and share it with friends and family.  We have trails through the woodlands and swamp. I am not exaggerating when I call it a jungle.   Nature is potent, growing in wild tangles.  There are oak trees that are 6' in diameter and I guess 60', 80 feet tall.  This exuberant nature feeds my spirit with joy.

Nature supports my art creations.  I make art almost every day.  Nature and art creation nourish my spirit.  I can feel the peaceful flowing soul energy of Mother Nature when I walk the trails.

Wildlife here includes:  many deer, wild boar, beaver, armadillo, raccoon, rabbits, squirrels, frogs that throb the air with their songs, multicolored lizards, salamander, and box turtle.  Water turtle and fish in the creek.

A symphony of birds, including blue heron, large and small egret, king fisher, owls, hawks, a large and a small variety of woodpeckers.  The hummingbird feeders bring amazing, tiny, jewel colored birds, that zoom swiftly among the trees.

And Snakes, most are not dangerous. Cotton mouth moccasins are rarely seen.  I feel an adrenaline fear rush and back away slowly.  I tell the children to watch where they put their feet and hands.

The creek feeds into the Bogue Falaya, which flows into the Pearl River, and Honey Island Swamp.  A relatively, sparsely populated green corridor runs more than a hundred miles into the Gulf.  I have examined it on Google Earth.  It is a migration corridor for birds and other critters.  Eye witnesses claim to have seen Big Foot in Honey Island Swamp and along the Pearl.  I am on the look out, but have not seen him yet.

Two inch benign banana spiders make webs that shimmer in the dappled sun light.  Occasionally, in the spring, mosquitoes bite.  Graceful butterflies of many colors.  Dragonflies that are black, accented with iridescent pthalo blue wings.

Such beauty, an embarrassment of riches.

The children like to kayak to a sandbar where we swim.  Sitting on the sandbar we hunt for fossils, agate and Native American artifacts.

We planted moso bamboo in 2006.  This plant can GROW!  It covers maybe half an acre now.  Sassafras, (historically used to make rootbeer and file for gumbo ), grows as a second story under the tall bamboo.

It took me a long time to get here.  I grew up moving around with my Air Force Dad. I moved around quite a bit as an adult.  Trying out different spots.  When I got close to retirement, I searched for my forever home.

January 1, 2002, my family and I tent camped on our new land. My forever home.

I lived in a tent while my sons, brother, nephew, and friends, built the house.  I moved lightly into the house before it was closed in.  A bird nested in the woodwork framing.  We sat in the area that was to be the living room, the walls were up, but had no windows or doors.  Devoted Mama Bird flew over our heads, back and forth to feed the gaping beaks of tiny babies.

I self identified as an Artist in 1980.  My family also built me a studio.  I create almost everyday, following an evolving stream of inspiration.  A few themes migrate into my work at different times.  Primarily nature and luminous women. I am a spiritual seeker, art maps out my seeker path.

I am blessed with a satisfying way to experience life on earth.

Three Graces, canvas paintings

Three Graces, Painterly Realistic

acrylic on canvas, 48"x 36", 6/2020

Three Graces, Crystallized

acrylic on canvas, 48"x 36", 6/2020

Yoga Sunbeams, Deer

 digital, 2020

My muse leads me.  This year has been mostly women.  I did The Three Graces with two 48"x36", acrylic on canvas.  I dont know how many digital images I made.  At least twenty.  My intent was to do the same image in many different styles. So , I created the same figures in styles ranging from painterly realistic to cubistic to I dont know what to call it.  Also, I have done some painted driftwood pieces.

There have been several images of women dancing. In the clouds, in the forest and so on.

Next, I thought, "Yoga, eureka!".  This px shows a yoga headstand, in the forest, with a deer.  The inspiration picture of the deer came from a trail cam that we set up down by the creek.  I follow my muse along a path that is beautiful.

They have changed the format of blogger, and I dont know how to get the writing in the place where I want it.  Tech can be so annoying.   I would rather be painting or gardening.

Horse Sampler,#1, for Dave, realistic
digital, 1/2020

Horse Sampler,#2, abstracted
digital, 1/2020

Dave asked me to make a picture of a horse.  I puttered around a while before deciding to do it.  I set my creative intention to be realistic, because that is what Dave likes.  After making the realistic horse in Photoshop I wanted to abstract the picture.  So i made up some loose guidelines.  I thought of diamond shapes, I thought about Harlequin patterns.  This was a lot of fun.

Today, I worked on another pair of pictures, but with female figures instead of horses.  The realistic figures are almost done and i started abstracting them today. I am exercising my style tools, and doing something rather new.  I follow my muse.  I keep the art interesting, changing my guidelines, a bit here and a bit there.  I never get bored photo-shopping and painting.

The next thing that I want to do with the horse, is to blow him up.  I am excited to see how that will look.

If that is not enough, working on four px's at once, I am also doing another thing even more out of my usual zone.  I have made some painted drift wood sculptures that looks fantastic.  I need to buy a new camera to get quality of photos of the sculptures.  Been doing the research on that.
